Palatine Park District Celebrates Two Decades of Fall Festival at Palatine Stables

In 1998, Palatine Park District hosted its first Fall Festival at Palatine Stables, 1510 W Northwest Highway, in Palatine. Twenty years later the event is still running strong and has since expanded to the Meadowlark property. From a small event with pony rides, picnicking, and pumpkins, it has grown to include riding demonstrations, scarecrow decorating contests, various food vendors, a craft and business fair, and more. Palatine Park District will host the 20th annual Fall Festival at Palatine Stables on Saturday, October 14 from 11:00am until 4:00pm.

While there are several free activities to enjoy, including wagon rides and a petting zoo, tickets are required for pony rides, make & take crafts, the inflatable zone, and scarecrow decorating. The scarecrow contest will begin at 11a.m. and run until 3 p.m. Entry into the contest is $10, which includes a bag of straw, a burlap sack, clothes, and various other decorations. Participants may also bring their own materials from home. At the conclusion of the event, participants are given the option of taking home their scarecrow or leaving it at the event. Contest winners will be announced at 3:30 p.m.

A new Inflatable Zone will be provided this year by The Playground Games, including an obstacle course, bounce house, and bubble soccer for ages 7 years and up. Unlimited play in this area is available for $3 when purchased at one of the four ticket booths around the property.

Enjoy lunch or an afternoon snack at the event with food from Chick-fil-A Kildeer, Morkes Chocolates, and Photos Hotdogs. Menu items will include chicken sandwiches, caramel apples, hot dogs, brats, and more. Concessions will be located on the east side of the property with picnic tables in front of the Meadlowlark Stage. This year's live entertainment will feature a variety of musical guests for the whole family, including Istvan and His Imaginary Band, Miss Jamie's Farm, and Mr. Adrian and Friends.

12:00pm - Miss Jamie's Farm

Miss Jamie takes young kids and their families on an imaginative musical adventure to her farm where they learn values like hard work, healthy eating, and being kind to animals and each other. With the help of farm animal puppets and songs both familiar and new, the Miss Jamie's Farm kids music show will leave everyone stomping their boots and hollering for more fruits & veggies!

1:30pm - Istvan & His Imaginary Band

When Istvan starts rocking kids can't help but join in, sometimes on stage, while their moms and dads cheer them on and enjoy the original tunes, an irresistible mix of interactive rock 'n' roll, country, pop punk, and sing-alongs that get heads bobbing.

3:00pm - Mr. Adrian and Friends

Mr. Adrian performs songs of adventure and relatable concepts, approached in a fanciful manner with his trusty ukulele and accordion. His stories, featuring friends ranging from penguins to dragons, come to life in a style of music that resembles They Might Be Giants and Shel Silverstein. While his music may be for kids, adults will find themselves humming along to the catchy tunes.

Goody bags will be given to the first 1,000 people, featuring information about upcoming events and materials from our event sponsors. Gold level sponsors include, AMITA Health, Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices-Sue Gould, Best Brains of Palatine, Costco Wholesale of Schaumburg, KidSnips, Mathnasium of Palatine, My Flavor It Place of Palatine, Orthodontic Experts, Sport Clips Haircuts of Palatine, The Playground Games, and Verbic Orthodontics.
