Ribbon Cutting at the Aurora McDonald's

The new Aurora McDonald's located at 2230 S. Eola

Rd. celebrated their grand opening with a ribbon cutting, cake cutting and VIP party on Monday night, July 17th. It was a standing room only crowd at McDonald's. Brothers Ed and Richard Schmitt, Owner Operators, are proud to bring Aurora an upscale new McDonald's with a playland for the community to enjoy for years to come.

At the VIP party, the Schmitt's welcomed friends, colleagues, City employees, Aurora Chamber members, and representatives from the local schools for a special grand opening VIP event. First and foremost important were presentations made by State Senator Linda Holmes, State Representative Stephanie Kifowit and Mayor Irvin. Alderman Bugg also spoke and told the crowd that this corner of Aurora is the heart of the City and they are thrilled to have a McDonald's now at this prominent corner in Aurora. The Schmitt's were honored to have State Senator Holmes, State Senator Oberweiss, State Representative Kifowit, Mayor Irvin, Alderman Bugg, Alderman Mervine, Alderman Franco, and Alderman Lofchie to share in the celebration. Also in attendance were many of the Aurora Chamber Members and many other Aurora community VIP's.

Additional speakers at the event included the following: Alvaro Bonta, McDonald's Chicago Region Vice President and of course the owners, Ed and Richard Schmitt and their families. Alvaro Bonta the Vice President of the McDonald's Greater Chicago Region talked about the great experience a McDonald's customer will have at this location. The restaurant features self-service Kiosks to place your order. He also talked about how a customer doesn't even have to come in the restaurant to get their order as McDonald's now has the app for McDelivery through UberEats and how customers can also use the mobile app and just pull up in a space and have their order brought to their car. Alvaro Bonta also said how the Schmitt's help create who McDonald's is as a brand and how today McDonald's is now so much better due to the many ways McDonald's can now serve their customers and give them the best experience.

Thank you to Boy Scout Pack 332 and Boy Scout Troop 675 who presented the colors and recited the pledge of allegiance at the start of the event. Also, thank you to Marueen Gasek of the Aurora Chamber of Commerce who helped make the event a success. The event featured complimentary McDonald's appetizers, and smoothies, and of course the cake. The event also featured a special appearance by Ronald McDonald.
