Show your athleticism during annual Triathlon and Duathlon

Biking, running and swimming enthusiasts have the chance to test their endurance at Schaumburg Park District's annual Splash, Pedal, Dash Triathlon and Dash, Pedal, Dash Duathlon.

Races begin at 6:30 a.m. Sunday, July 30, at Meineke Recreation Center, 220 E. Weathersfield Way, Schaumburg, with check-in, chip assignment, body marking and pickup starting at 5:15 a.m.

The triathlon consists of a 400-meter swim, 12.8-mile bike ride and 5K run. The duathlon consists of a 12.8-mile bike ride sandwiched between two 5K runs. Both races are chip-timed, include one transition area and end at Meineke Recreation Center. Multiple age divisions are available for ages 15 and older.

"This is an event that has been popular and successful in the area for so many years," said Ryan Gangler, division manager of facilities. "We start out the Triathlon by swimming in Meineke's Olympic-sized pool which sets us apart from other competitions."

All participants will receive a technical T-shirt and finisher's medal.

Registration deadline is Wednesday, July 26. Cost is $65. Entries are limited to the first 650 participants to register (triathlon and duthatlon combined). Participants must register at Active.com.
