Village of Buffalo Grove Invites Stakeholders to Attend Lake Cook Corridor Open House

This coming Tuesday, July 11, the Village of Buffalo Grove will host a second public meeting to engage with residents, business owners, property owners, community leaders, and other stakeholders regarding the future of the Lake Cook Corridor. Anyone who has an interest in the future of the Corridor is invited to attend.

The goal of the consultant team for the Lake Cook Corridor Market Study and Plan - who have worked directly with the Corridor Planning Group (the project's steering committee) - is to improve the Village's identity, vitality, and economic and fiscal sustainability. There are currently alternative scenarios for the future vision of the Corridor to be reviewed and considered by those in attendance, and feedback is strongly encouraged.

"This is an exciting time for everyone who has an interest in the future of the Lake Cook Corridor; individuals can have their voices heard, and play a role in the shaping of how this important corridor in Buffalo Grove will be developed," said Chris Stilling, Community Development Director for the Village of Buffalo Grove.

The Lake Cook Corridor encompasses more than 472 acres of land and includes an excess of one million square feet of commercial space, residential dwellings, the Village campus and municipal golf course. The Corridor also serves as a gateway to the Village as it connects Buffalo Grove to a regional network of expressways, highways, and other major roads. With over 40,000 vehicles traveling on it per day, Lake Cook Road is one of the most utilized and visible roads in the region.

The meeting will have an open house format; those interested in attending can join the event any time between 6:00 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. The open house will showcase key elements of the project including market analysis, natural resources, transportation, land use, and development. Project team members will be present to address comments, questions, and collect feedback from the community.

The project's end result will be a vision plan for the Corridor that is comprehensive, grounded in market realities and achievable. The project team anticipates the plan will be completed by the end of 2017.

The first public meeting was held in February of 2017, which allowed participants to join an online poll relating to the Corridor to submit comments regarding their visions and concerns for its future.

The meeting will be held on Tuesday, July 11, 2017 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. at the Buffalo Grove Community Arts Center, 225 McHenry Road in Buffalo Grove.
