Erma Bogert Memorial Scholarship awarded to 2 St. Charles East grads

On May 17, two students from St. Charles East High School were awarded the Erma Bogert Memorial Scholarship from the Pottawatomie Garden Club.

This scholarship is in memory of Erma Bogert, a longtime garden club member who passed away this past year at age 101.

In honor of their outstanding accomplishments the scholarships were awarded to Jonathan Lingard who will be studying agriculture economics at Utah State University and Morgan Meador who will be attending Lipscomb University in the fall majoring in biology.

Since 1928, the members of Pottawatomie Garden Club have made St. Charles a more beautiful community. They plant flowers on the Main Street and Illinois bridges, and around the Municipal building each spring and fall. They also honor past members with the Memorial Tree Program; and the club presents an annual Landscape Commendation Award to businesses in St. Charles Township.

The club awards an annual scholarship to horticulture students and provides support to gardening and environmental projects in the community. For information, visit pottagardenclub.org.
