Stop by WellBatavia Expo Saturday

Batavia MainStreet will introduce the first WellBatavia Expo in downtown Batavia. WellBatavia, a partnership between Catalyst Physiotherapy and the Batavia Environmental Commission, will take place Saturday, June 3, at City Hall and the Peg Bond Center.

"The focus of this event is on healthy lifestyle choices and celebrates the organizations in this area that bring wellness to the mind, body, and soul," said event chair Sarah Greenhagen, owner and managing partner of Catalyst Physiotherapy, Performance & Wellness.

The morning coincides with the first Batavia Farmers' Market of the season. To get the energy moving throughout the City of Energy, the Race to the Market- Opening Day 5K, presented by Gerald Subaru of North Aurora and Orange Home Services LLC, will begin at River Street at 7:30 a.m. and finish at the grounds of the fair.

Sure Movements will then host Yoga for Runners and kick off the day-long free fitness offerings on the Peg Bond Stage.

Wellness is addressed at the individual and community level at WellBatavia. Over 50 vendors will be organized into different Well Villages: The Holistic Village is all about health alternatives with vendors that speak to the interconnectedness of mind, body and spirit and approach wellness as a proper balance of each. Healthy Practices is focused on the things that easily get neglected in today's busy world: eating right, sleeping well, and finding healthy headspace.

The Fitness Village will get people up and moving! Not only will there be booths to meet and greet the local providers, but the Peg Bond stage will feature demos throughout the day. Or stop by the Health Services Village. The journey to wellness must start somewhere. WellBatavia attendees are invited to visit the Prevention Village to receive individualized baseline data and current health diagnostics. In the Healthy Home/Healthy World village, they will showcase local offerings for everything green - native plants, clean energy, eco-friendly products, advocacy groups, and more!

Downtown restaurants will be highlight their healthiest meals and offering discounts day of the fair for attendees that walk to Batavia's dining establishments and show their expo brochure.

To reinforce the messages championed by these villages, several seminars will be held inside City Hall. Joe King of PT Advantage will host "Low Back Pain: How to Manage It Naturally." Additional seminars will be announced on the WellBatavia website.
