See new Community Athletic Fields Park

At 9:30 a.m. Saturday, May 6, there will be a grand opening and ribbon-cutting ceremony to recognize the completion of the new buildings at the Community Athletic Fields at Arlington Heights Road and Devon Avenue. Light refreshments will be served following the ribbon-cutting.

After 23 years, the Community Athletic Fields Park received a major building improvement to better service the community. The old buildings were replaced with a HUB building and a maintenance storage building.

The east HUB building will support restroom services and concessions and the west building will support storage needs for the park district and the athletic associations.

The two HUB buildings are connected by a translucent roof providing shelter during inclement weather, and during hotter days patrons can enjoy two misters cooling the space down.

The monolithic steps will provide terraced seating for teams to gather before games. The maintenance building will provide on-site storage for all of the maintenance equipment necessary to maintain the grounds.
