May 13, 2022 10:48 PM - Jalen Buckley concedes that he first came out for track as a freshman just to stay in shape for football. The Batavia senior and Western Michigan football recruit tried jumps his sophomore year, and found he was pretty good at it. He stuck with it. Buckley took 10th in the state triple jump last spring, but it's been no overnight climb.

Baseball: St. Charles East stays hot with win at GenevaApr 30, 2022 5:21 PM - Although St. Charles East batters slugged four home runs in its 15-4 rout of Geneva Saturday, coach Len Asquini was more impressed with the inning his squad scored five runs on singles, walks, errors and a hit batsman. The win raised the Saints conference record to 11-0 and tightened their grip on first place in the DuKane Conference. Overall, the Saints are 14-1-1.

Apr 30, 2022 10:30 AM - Patrick Hilby had never run both the open 800-meter run and 400 in the same meet before Friday. It makes sense. The two races, separated by just one event, allow for almost zero rest. Hilby, an Aurora Central Catholic sophomore, ran sprints in the infield almost immediately after his 800 run Friday.
