Bulls set to play Pistons in Paris next season

The Bulls have an extended road trip in store for next season. The NBA announced Tuesday the Bulls will face the Detroit Pistons Jan. 19 at Accor Arena in Paris.

This will be the first time the Bulls have played an overseas game during the regular season. Their last game played outside the U.S. and Canada was Dec. 13, 2018 when they lost to Orlando in Mexico City.

The Bulls have played in Paris before, for a preseason tournament in 1997 when they beat PSG Racing and Olympiakos before the start of their sixth championship season.

The Bulls have played two other international preseason games - beating Utah in London in 2009 and Washington in Rio de Janeiro in 2013.

This will be the NBA's first game in Europe since Jan. 24, 2020 when Milwaukee played Charlotte in a regular season game in Paris. It's set to be the league's 12th game in France since 1991.

"It is a great honor to bring Chicago Bulls basketball back to Paris for the NBA Paris Game 2023 - an event that illustrates the league's commitment to amplifying the national and global impact of basketball," Bulls vice president of basketball operations Arturas Karnisovas said in a statement.

"Having played several games in Paris during my career, I know how special this will be for our players, our organization, and our international fan base. We look forward to representing Chicago overseas and are grateful for the opportunity to do so."

The full NBA schedule is typically released in early August.
