Hawks' home finale ends on a high note

Taylor Raddysh notched a pair of first-period goals, defenseman Caleb Jones also scored, and the Hawks eliminated the Vegas Golden Knight from playoff contention with a 4-3 shootout victory at the United Center on Wednesday.

Tyler Johnson converted in the seventh round of the shootout after six straight failed attempts by both teams. The Hawks won when Kevin Lankinen staved off Vegas' final attempt by Michael Amadio.

The Hawks closed out the home portion of their schedule at 14-21-6 and are 28-42-11 heading into the season finale at Buffalo on Friday.

"For us to win in front of our fans in the last game in the regular season means a lot," Johnson said.

Raddysh now has 11 goals overall and 6 in just 20 games with the Hawks since coming over in a trade with Tampa Bay. He scored at 16:01 of the first period by banking a shot off goalie Logan Thompson, then added a second goal with a hardworking play right in front of the net at 19:57.

Jones ripped home a shot at 5:03 of the second period for his fifth goal. He is tied with brother Seth for most goals by Hawks defenseman.

Lankinen made 37 saves to improve to 8-15-6. Raddysh finished with 8 shots on goal and 3 take-aways in just over 16 minutes of ice time.
