How local Olympians fared on Thursday

Women's ice hockey
Looking to win their second straight gold medal in the Winter Games, the United States beat Finland 5-2 in Thursday's preliminary round.
Captain Kendall Coyne Schofield (Palos Heights), who is also a player development coach for the Blackhawks, scored 2 goals in the win.
Savannah Harmon (Downers Grove) had 2 assists and Jesse Compher (Northbrook) and Hilary Knight (Lake Forest) each had 1 assist.
Men's ski jumping
In the normal hill official training 1 results, Casey Larson (Barrington) ranked 38th.
Kevin Bickner (Wauconda) was 49th and Patrick Gasienica (Chicago) ranked 54th.
All three jumpers have trained at the Norge Ski Club in Fox River Grove.
