Donovan says Caruso may return to Bulls sooner than expected

On Monday, the prognosis on Alex Caruso's injured hamstring was a week of rest, then reevaluate.

Before Wednesday's game in Cleveland, Bulls coach Billy Donovan said Caruso is progressing quickly and could conceivably be ready for Saturday's game in Miami.

"He's doing well. They're going to ramp him up these next two days," Donovan said. "I think there will be a lot more sprinting, lateral cutting, just to see how he responds. The phase he was in when he got hurt, he's progressed way past that right now. So he's doing really well.

"Now, I don't know how he's going to respond to the actual stopping, starting sprinting, doing that. But I think the medical guys, along with Alex, feel pretty comfortable with where he's at now. Now it's time to take the next step. So he's traveled with us, he's here. I would probably have a better idea about his availability against Miami probably closer to that game."
