First Schick golf outing to be held next week

The Inaugural Bob Schick Memorial Golf Classic will be held Friday, Oct. 8 at Bliss Creek Golf Course in Sugar Grove.

Schick, a member of Geneva's Athletic Hall of Fame and the school's athletic director from 1965 to 1986, passed away last year. Proceeds from the golf outing benefit the Robert 'Bob' Schick Memorial Scholarship Fund through the Community Foundation of the Fox River Valley.

Each year, one male and one female student-athlete from Geneva High School, who embody Shick's commitment to academics, athletics, and church involvement/community service, are provided with a $1,500 college scholarship in Bob's name.

The golf outing begins with registration at 11:30 a.m. There's a 12:30 p.m. shotgun start/scramble format; cost is $125 for golf and dinner, or $50 for dinner only. There will be a silent auction, raffle baskets, and prizes for golf.

Those interested in the outing can register at bobschickmemorialgolf.golfreg.com.
