Cubs rebuilt bullpen starting to find success

The Cubs will have a hard time matching their early season bullpen dominance, but the new group is holding its own.

During the seven-game win streak, Cubs relievers have allowed just 2 earned runs in 35 innings. Over the past two weeks, four relievers have posted ERAs less than 2.00 - Codi Heuer (0.00), converted starter Adbert Alzolay (0.00), Tuesday's starter Adrian Sampson (1.42) and rookie Manuel Rodriguez (1.80).

Rowan Wick, Scott Effross and Adam Morgan have posted ERAs less than 4.00.

"Man, what the bullpen's been doing is unbelievable," Monday's starter Justin Steele said. "It's so much fun watching them guys work, especially people like Scott Effross who I came through the minor leagues with. Eugene, Oregon back in 2015 when they first drafted me.

"Right off the bat, me and him have been very good friends for a such a long time and he's such a good person. It's heartwarming watching a guy like him go out and do what he's been doing. Then Codi Heuer's been dominant ever since he came over to us. Adam Morgan came in (Monday) and shut the door. It's a lot of fun to watch when guys come out of the bullpen and so what they're supposed to do. I'm sure they're enjoying it as much as I am watching it."
