Next two Bulls' home games pushed to later start times

The next two Bulls home games - on Saturday against the Los Angeles Lakers and Monday against Boston - have been pushed back one hour to 8 p.m.

The NBA is moving 12 games this week to 8 p.m. local starts. It's not clear why the league made the changes, but there might be an effort to have more games starting at the same time with so many cancellations in the past two weeks.

From Dec. 22 through Jan. 9, there was just one NBA game canceled. From Jan. 10 to 22 there have been 16 cancellations due to COVID-19 concerns, including the Jan. 12 Boston at Bulls game.

More postponements are on the way. Memphis had a four-game western swing wiped out this week and the Grizzlies' next scheduled game is at home against the Bulls Wednesday.

The NBA released only the first half of the schedule so that canceled games can be made up in the second half. The Bulls have had just the one game called off so far. Washington has had a league-high six games scratched and Memphis five.

The Bulls should be closer to full strength Friday against Charlotte, since both Chandler Hutchison and Tomas Satoransky will be available for the first time since Dec. 29 after recovering from the coronavirus.
