White Sox's playoff roster, starting lineup for Game 1 vs. Athletics

Leury Garcia hasn't played for the White Sox since Aug. 10, when he tore up his left thumb diving into first base for an infield hit against the Tigers.

Garcia severed a ligament in the thumb and had surgery, but he's fully healed and back with the Sox for the playoffs.

Rusty or not, Garcia is in the starting lineup for Game 1 of the playoffs against the Athletics at Oakland Coliseum. He's replacing Eloy Jimenez (sprained foot) in left field.

"He's been back with us and he's been doing a lot of different things before he rejoined us," White Sox manager Rick Renteria said of Garcia. "We've seen him out there working out (Monday) and it's like he didn't skip a beat. I'm hoping that that's the case all the way around.

"We've always been very, very confident about Leury. He can get out of bed and do a number of things and hopefully that's the case for us today."

Here is the Sox's lineup for Game 1:

1. Tim Anderson, SS

2. Yoan Moncada, 3B

3. Yasmani Grandal, DH

4. Jose Abreu, 1B

5. James McCann, C

6. Luis Robert, CF

7. Adam Engel, RF

8. Leury Garcia, LF

9. Nick Madrigal, 2B

Starting pitcher: Lucas Giolito

Along with Garcia, catcher Zack Collins was also added to the Sox's 28-man playoff roster. Starting pitcher Reynaldo Lopez, who was shelled by the Cubs in Sunday's final game of the regular season, was left off.
