Madrigal still on track to rejoin White Sox in late August
Out with a separated left shoulder after an awkward slide into third base during an Aug. 4 game at Milwaukee, rookie second baseman Nick Madrigal is still on track to rejoin the White Sox at the end of the month.
"Nick's resumed virtually all baseball activity," general manager Rick Hahn said Monday. "He's fielding groundballs, he hits in the cage, and he will be joining Schaumburg soon on a daily basis to go through their workouts and game simulations."
Hahn said injured starter Reynaldo Lopez (shoulder) also should be back in late August.
"He's throwing in Schaumburg, he's on his throwing program," the GM said. "He's competing in the games that we are staging out there, and he continues to progress."
Starter Carlos Rodon (shoulder) is close to reporting to Schaumburg.
"Rodon, he's probably a half click behind Lopez," Hahn said. "He was here yesterday, threw a sideline, had a good outing with that."
Hahn said Rodon could be back in late August or early September.
