Outlook: With seven individuals winning regional titles at Grayslake Central, Antioch could have numerous individuals heading to the state meet. But the new individual sectional venue this year at No. 5-ranked host school Deerfield will be anything but a cakewalk for the Sequoits as No. 1-ranked Marian Central is expected to be a dominant force at just about every weight class. No. 1-ranked Cramer is trying to follow in his older brother Alex's footsteps by winning a state title in his junior year. Cramer will join Alex on the Old Dominion wrestling team for the 2021-22 season. Top-ranked Olsen will be gunning for back-to-back state crowns for Crystal Lake South, while Schoenfelder, Barbarise, Reyes and McPherson are gearing up for a state-medal push. Antioch set a school record last year with seven individual state qualifiers, and that was without the injured Schoenfelder in its lineup. The Sequoits are poised to make their sixth trip to the Elite Eight team tourney since 2010 as they are heavily favored to beat host Fenton in the dual-team sectional on Feb. 25. Jens won a state medal as a freshman, while Gruen, Swanson, Timmons, Swindell, Ramirez, Moran, Smith and Rands are all contenders to win a state medal in 2020.

Outlook: After a one-week hiatus due to an injury to Pucino in the regional semifinals, the much-anticipated third match of the season between No. 2-ranked Pucino and top-ranked Vandervere could take place Saturday in the 138-pound final. Top-ranked Heard was impressive in winning a regional title for Libertyville, and his only loss this season was to Joliet Catholic two-time Class 2A state champion D.J. Hamiti. Domke, Riley, Frezza, Baczek, Geist, Mrazek and Brown are all among state-ranked wrestlers hoping to continue their quest to make it onto the podium for a medal at state next weekend.
