Dundee-Crown's Crenshaw picks up MVP award

Dundee-Crown's Alyssa Crenshaw is this week's Daily Herald MVP for girls basketball.

Alyssa Crenshaw, Dundee-Crown: This 5-foot-9 junior forward led her team to three more Fox Valley Conference wins as the Chargers close in on the conference title. Crenshaw had 13 points and 10 rebounds in a win over McHenry, poured in 24 points with 9 rebounds and 3 assists as Dundee-Crown came from behind to beat Crystal Lake South, and added 16 points and 6 rebounds against Jacobs.

Tatiana Thomas, Montini: The sophomore forward had a double-double in Montini's victory against Lincoln-Way West. Thomas scored 15 points and grabbed 12 rebounds to go along with 4 steals as Montini, the No. 2-ranked team in Class 3A, defeated the No. 4 team in Class 4A.

Kendra Lee, Buffalo Grove: Lee, a senior four-year starter, was a model of consistency in wins over Elk Grove (13 points, 9 rebounds) and Rolling Meadows (12 points, 13 rebounds, 3 assists), which helped the Bison take a share of the Mid-Suburban East crown.

Ella Karg, Wauconda: Despite graduating all-time leading scorer Allie Tylka, the Bulldogs are on the verge of winning 20 games for the second year in a row. It's due, in large part, to the play of their junior point guard, who's in her third varsity season. She scored 22 points and dished out 10 assists in a win over North Chicago, then had 13 points, 7 assists and 4 steals, as the Bulldogs beat Round Lake.
