Buffalo Grove rolls by Glenbard North

Buffalo Grove looked recovered from its marathon.

The Bison, who dropped a tough, high-scoring double overtime game to Rolling Meadows last Friday, put the pieces back together Tuesday. Buffalo Grove had 12 different players score in a convincing 67-46 nonconference win over Glenbard North.

"Being on our home court helped," Buffalo Grove coach Keith Peterson said. "Friday night was such a great environment for the kids to play. To walk out and see a different environment and still have to play, I thought was real good. I thought it was good that we played today instead of practicing."

Matt Brunelli, who would knock down a trio of 3-pointers on his way to 15 points, said his team was able to regroup just fine.

"We just had to stay together after a tough loss," Brunelli said. "We knew we had to get over this hump and prepare for Friday. We all bond as team and when we are all having fun out there we play at our best."

It was Senior Night for Buffalo Grove (21-6) and the Bison had a different starting lineup. It didn't matter as they shot out to a quick 6-2 lead.

Nate Cole, who is a senior and one of Buffalo Grove's normal starters, gave up his starting spot. But when he came off the bench, he had a basket and a pair of free throws as the Bison extended their lead.

"We were all excited to get back out there," said Cole, who finished with 6 points. "It is great to be out there with all the guys and play."

Buffalo Grove appeared to be running away with the game in the second quarter when Glenbard North (6-21) responded. The Panthers rattled off seven consecutive points as they closed to within 26-17 with 1:34 left.

Kam Craft, who had just 2 points thus far, then heated up in a hurry. He knocked down a pair of free throws and then had a pullup 3 before Brunelli closed out the half with a driving layup to make it 33-17 at the break.

Craft wasn't done. He knocked down three shots to start the second half and the Bison led 39-21. After a Panther basket, Buffalo Grove blasted off 10 consecutive points to pull away with a 49-23 lead.

"We took care of business as a team," said Craft, who finished with 15 points in limited action. "We got the win and that is all that matters."

Glenbard North was led by Julliane Pamfilo and Payton Bowser, who each had 9 points, and Rory Hills who had 8 points.

"Early, I though they were the more aggressive team," Glenbard North coach Joe Larson said. "They were beating us off the dribble and beating us to loose balls. We got some good looks, but we had a hard time putting the ball in the hole."
