Keuchel apologizes for Astros' sign-stealing scandal

The Houston Astros' sign-stealing scandal that cost manager A.J. Hinch and general manager Jeff Luhnow their jobs earlier this month indirectly collided with the White Sox Friday.

Speaking to the media at SoxFest, new starting pitcher Dallas Keuchel addressed the controversy. Keuchel was on the Astros' 2017 World Series champion team.

"Was it against the rules? Yes, it was," Keuchel said. "And I personally am sorry for what's come about the whole situation."

Keuchel pitched for Houston from 2012-18.

"I'm not going to go into specific details, but during the course of the playoffs in 2017 everyone was using multiple signs," he said. "For factual purposes, when there is no one on base, when in the history of baseball has there been multiple signs? There was probably six out of eight teams using multiple signs. It's just what the state of baseball was at that point and time."
