Wauconda advances to semifinals at Marengo

Garrison Carter had a season-high 15 points and 9 rebounds, and Wauconda's boys basketball team beat Woodstock North 62-46 om Monday night to advance to the semifinals of Marengo's E.C. Nichols tournament.

Donovan Carter added 14 points and 6 rebounds for the Bulldogs (8-2, 2-0 tourney), who won their sixth in a row. Griffin Daun had 8 points and 4 steals for Wauconda, which plays Hampshire at 6 p.m. Friday.

Grayslake Central 41, South Elgin 36: At Jacobs, Ethan Boelens scored 11 points, including three 3-pointers, and the Rams evened their record in the Hinkle Holiday Classic at 1-1.

Daniel Rogers and Amarion Coleman added 9 and 8 points, resepectively, for Grayslake Central (3-7), which resumes the tournament at noon Thursday against Marian Central.

Waubonsie Valley 72, Grant 27: At Jacobs, the Bulldogs fell to 0-2 in the Hinkle Holiday Classic.

Freshman Chad Kiesgen scored 12 points for Grant (2-9), which trailed 20-5 after one quarter and 39-14 at halftime. The Bulldogs next play Prairie Ridge at 9 a.m. Thursday.
