Naperville North's Kampschroeder picks up MVP accolade

Greta Kampschroeder of Naperville North is this week's Daily Herald girls basketball MVP.

Greta Kampschroeder, Naperville North: The junior scored 32 points with 11 rebounds and 2 steals in a victory against Oswego. Then Kampschroeder, a second-team all-stater last season, helped the Huskies to a DuPage Valley Conference victory against cross-town rival Naperville Central with 22 points, 10 rebounds and 2 steals.

Lauren Huber, Libertyville: Her go-ahead 3-pointer capped a remarkable rally, as the Wildcats erased a 17-point deficit in the fourth quarter to stun host Stevenson 57-54. Her performance (career-high 22 points, three 3s, 7 rebounds) capped a special 24 hours, as the junior guard received her first offer (from Eastern Illinois) the previous night. She had also 10 points in a 56-27 win over Warren.

Mary Kate Fahey, Hersey: Fahey scored 48 points in games vs. Lake Park, Elk Grove and New Trier, including a season-high 24 against in a 77-46 MSL East win over Elk Groves. She also grabbed 15 rebounds and handed out 9 assists in the three contests.

Anna Griffin, Aurora Christian: Griffin, a junior transfer from Plainfield Central, hit the 1,000-point milestone in style with a school-record 38 points in a win over Westmont, adding 15 rebounds. Griffin also had 13 points and 12 rebounds in a win over Elmwood Park and 35 points and 15 rebounds as Aurora Christian improved to 11-0 by defeating Indian Creek.
