Lake Zurich dumps Lake Forest

Down by 4 points entering the fourth quarter, Lake Zurich needed a bit of a scoring punch and defense on its side.

The Bears found it with a 16-5 run which was enough for them to get past Lake Forest 42-35 in a North Suburban Conference boys basketball game on Friday night.

"This team has worked so hard and the results haven't always been there early on," Lake Zurich coach Terry Coughlin said. "Little things have been keeping us from getting over the finish line. The kids have kept a consistent work ethic every single day. Our guys have responded time in and time out. Tonight was another moment being down and we came back. Defense is where it starts for us and they executed the game plan."

Lake Zurich (3-4, 1-1) got some good balance with Noah Deluga leading the way with 13 points. Will Tucker added 12.

Jack Malloy led Lake Forest (3-5, 0-2) with 10 points and 7 rebounds.
