Fremd goes to 5-0 with win at Palatine

Senior guard Emily Klaczek scored a game-high 23 points to help lead Fremd's state-ranked girls basketball team to a 58-43 win at Palatine in the Mid-Suburban West opener on Friday night.

Ella Burns added 9 points (three 3-pointers) and Olivia Hill added eight for the Vikings (5-0, 1-0).

Palatine (3-4, 0-1) was paced by Kayla Miotk (11 points), Madi Stark (10) and Melanie Simon (8).

Rolling Meadows 61, Elk Grove 52: Sophomore guard Nicole Davis scored a career-high 18 points for host Rolling Meadows (4-3, 1-0) in the MSL East opener.

Bridget Rolla (13 points) and Madi Niedbala (11) also reached double figures for the winners who received 9 points from Emily Galvan (9 points).

"I thought we had a balanced attack against a good Elk Grove team," said Meadows coach Ryan Kirkorsky. "We had some great contributions, and Susannah Holifield's rebounding was the key to the game."

Kaitlyn Ingebrigtsen (17 points), Megan Murray (14) and Lili Duckmann (11) led Elk Grove (4-3, 0-1).

Schaumburg 42, Conant 39: Schaumburg coach Jacqie Strauch watched her host Saxons (3-4, 1-0) open play with a win in the MSL West opener over Conant (2-4, 0-1).

Senior guard Katie Smith had the game-winning basket for Schaumburg.

Barrington 59, Hoffman Estates 28: Senior Taylor Thompson (27 points) and freshman Sophia Swanson (17) led visiting Barrington (4-5, 1-0) in the MSL West opener.

Nora Thomas (10 points) and Ashley Oliver (9) paced Hoffman (1-7, 0-1).

Buffalo Grove 61, Wheeling 33: Seniors Kendra Lee (game-high 20 points), Macy Floro (14 points) and Megan Fontanetta (10) reached double figures for host Buffalo Grove (5-3, 1-0) in the MSL East opener.

Senior guard Chloe Drozdz was the top scorer for Wheeling (1-6, 0-1).

Maine West 69, Maine East 18: Angela Dugalic (20 points, 10 rebounds, 3 blocks), Mahogany Shaw (8 points, 4 rebounds) and Jade Thomas (6 points, 9 rebounds) were among the leader for Maine West (8-0, 2-0) in the CSL North game in Des Plaines.

York 45, St. Viator 33: Joy Bergstrom (12 points) and Aubrey Horbach (10) led host St. Viator (1-4) in the nonconference game.
