Bartlett's Hare earns MVP honors

Bartlett sophomore Mackenzie Hare is the first Daily Herald girls basketball MVP of the 2019-20 season.

Mackenzie Hare, Bartlett: This sophomore sharpshooter opened her season by breaking the school record with 43 points in an emotional win over Fenton on a night the Hawks honored their former coach Brad Hunt. She scored 31 in the first half. Hare has scored in double figures in every Bartlett game including 22 points against Harlem and 21 against Marian Central. Also averaged 8.1 rebounds while shooting 41 percent from 3-point range.

Claire Hyde, Wheaton North: The sophomore guard led the Falcons to four wins in four games at the Lyons Twp. Thanksgiving Tournament and was named to the all-tournament team. She totaled 78 points, including a 25-point game against Lyons Twp. Hyde also grabbed 17 rebounds and dished 11 assists.

Angela Dugalic, Maine West: Dugalic helped lead the Warriors to a 5-0 record at the Schaumburg Thanksgiving Tournament. The 6-foot-4 senior was named tourney MVP, scoring 94 points and grabbing 51 rebounds in five games.

Kate Bullman, Grayslake Central: The 6-foot-2 senior combo guard has increased her scoring and rebounding each season since her freshman year. She's doing it again. She scored a career-high-tying 31 points against the host school in the Buffalo Grove Thanksgiving tournament and averaged 22.5 points in helping the Rams start the season 4-2.
