Girls volleyball: It's Palatine vs. Stevenson - again

In a rematch from 10 days ago, No. 3 seeded Stevenson (22-14) will face No. 6 Palatine (23-12) in the Pirates' Class 4A regional final on Thursday at 6 p.m.

The Pirates advanced with a 25-18, 25-18 over No. 11 Wheeling Tuesday.

Emily Campe (9 kills) and Sarah Elischer (7 kills) led the Pirates' attack set by Allison Drake (19 assists).

Brianna Squeo (6 digs) and Julie Garcia (4 digs) helped spark the Palatine back row.

Sydney Wiebe and Karina Szafraniec each chipped in 3 kills for the winners, who stopped Stevenson in three sets last week in Palatine.

Conant regional: Mid-Suburban East champion and No. 2 seed Hersey (28-8) won the Class 4A semifinal 25-15 25-8 over No. 16 Elk Grove and will face No. 12 Conant in Thursday's 6 p.m. championship.

Kati Kaburov (10 kills) and Janine Boyan (3 kills, 2 blocks) led No. 2 Hersey.

Allie Korba (8 assists) and Kaiya Eshoo (4 assists) set the offense while Juliette van den Herik added 2 kills and a block and Olivia Mellen had 3 aces and 7 digs.

Conant (18-17) advanced over No. 7 Niles West with a 25-19 22-25 25-16 win as Payton Litney (28 assists, 6 digs), Danielle Smith (5 kills), Yuri Hara (8 kills, 11 digs), Mackenzie Lunkes (18 digs) and Natalie Jurgenson (12 digs, 7 kills) helped lead the way.

Rolling Meadows regional: No. 1 Loyola defeated No. 17 Schaumburg 25-16, 25-17 in the first Class 4A semifinal while No. 9 Niles North edged No. 8 Prospect 24-26, 27-25, 25-22 in second semifinal.

Grace Cacini (14 kills), Jenna Acosta (10 kills), Annie Wiley (8 kills, 4 blocks) and Ellen Sherwood (5 kills) led the attack for Prospect (21-15) which was set by Sarah Skaggs (28 assists).

Mia Farraday collected 23 digs and Skaggs had 19.

New Trier regional: No. 5 New Trier posted a 25-7, 28-26 triumph over No. 10 Maine West (15-17) in the Class 4A semifinal.

Ridgewood regional: No. 4 St. Viator (14-21) defeated No. 11 Ridgewood 25-19, 25-12 in the Class 3A regional semifinal 25-19, 25-12 as Brenna Dooley served 4 aces for the Lions.

Lilly LaFleur (9 kills), Lauren Allaire (6 kills) and Marie Torosian (5 kills) led Viator's attack set by Erin Aldana (39-of-39, 13 assists).

Viator will face No. 4 Deerfield for the title on Thursday.
