Girls volleyball: Grayslake North, Stevenson, Libertyville net regional-semifinal wins

Jessica Pozezinski and Emily Porter had 6 and 5 kills, respectively, and Grayslake North's girls volleyball team defeated No. 14 Elmwood Park 25-13, 25-17 in semifinal action of the Class 3A Grayslake North regional on Tuesday night.

The third-seeded Knights (24-12), who led both sets from start to finish, will play No. 11 Resurrection in the regional final at 6 p.m. Thursday. Lindsey Diep and Abby Cunningham dished out 10 and 8 assists, respectively.

Stevenson d. Waukegan: At Palatine, Lily Cozzi had 8 kills and 8 digs, Amanda Holsen added 7 kills and 3 aces, and the third-seeded Patriots won the Class 4A regional semifinal 25-15, 25-11.

Stevenson (22-14) advanced to Thursday's 6 p.m. final against No. 6 Palatine. The Patriots' other contributors included Grace Tully (12 assists, 3 kills), Aimee Staemmer (4 kills), Emma Potocki (3 kills), Abby Keevins (12 digs), Connie Song (3 aces) and Emerson Kouri (9 digs).

Libertyville d. Highland Park: At Barrington, Kellie Hopper had 9 kills and 6 digs, Peyton O'Brien added 23 assists and 4 kills, and the top-seeded Wildcats captured the Class 4A regional semifinal 25-15, 25-16.

Libertyville (27-9) will play No. 8 Barrington for the regional championship at 6 p.m. Thursday. The Wildcats also received contributions from Cassidy Jones (5 kills), Kaylie Stuteville (5 kills), Ella Schaffnit (5 kills), Olivia Sauers (8 digs), Claire Taranowski (2 aces) and Alannah Howell (2 kills, 9 digs).

Cary-Grove d. Lake Zurich: At Lake Zurich, the second-seeded Trojans won the Class 4A regional semifinal 25-16, 25-11.

Chelsea Williams had 7 kills for No. 13 Lake Zurich (11-24). Jarynn Hartman added 4 kills.

Lake Forest d. Mundelein: At McHenry, the fourth-seeded Scouts prevailed 25-21, 25-19 in the Class 4A regional semifinal.

Faith Krabbe led No. 14 Mundelein (5-27) with 6 kills and 7 assists. Olivia Cartland had 3 kills for the Mustangs, and Claudia Wilcox served 2 aces.

Crystal Lake South d. Lakes: At Crystal Lake Central, the fifth-seeded Gators earned their 20th win, beating the fourth-seeded Eagles 25-16, 27-25.

Lakes finished its season 24-11.

Woodstock North d. Antioch: At Woodstock, the fifth-seeded Thunder upset the third-seeded Sequoits 25-9, 24-26, 25-16 in the Class 3A regional semifinal

Antioch finished its season 24-12, an eight-win improvement from last year. The Sequoits were led by Maiah Moll (13 assists, 1 ace, 1 block), Grace Regnier (7 kills, 4 blocks), Lexington McKillips (6 kills, 1 ace, 1 block) and Hannah Benes (10 digs).
