Girls volleyball: Jones, Libertyville rally past Lake Forest
Cassidy Jones slammed a career-high 14 kills, and Libertyville's girls volleyball team rallied to defeat host Lake Forest 23-25, 25-20, 25-10 in a North Suburban Conference showdown on Wednesday night.
The Wildcats improved to 21-6 and 5-0 in the NSC, while dropping the Scouts to 25-7 and 4-2.
Libertyville trailed by double digits in the opening set but nearly pulled it out, before dominating the final two sets. Peyton O'Brien also had a big night for Wildcats, tallying 30 assists, 7 kills and 4 blocks. Kellie Hopper added 7 kills, and Ella Schaffnit had 4 kills and 9 digs. Libertyville's other contributors included Olivia Sauers (15 digs), Alannah Howell (8 digs, 2 kills), Keira Kasten (4 blocks, 3 kills) and Kaylie Stuteville (3 blocks).
Lake Zurich d. Mundelein: Chelsea Williams had 10 kills and 2 aces, and the visiting Bears won 25-22, 25-20 in North Suburban Conference action.
Jarynn Hartman added 4 kills for Lake Zurich (7-20, 2-4), while Maura Ginn and Leah Salit each had 3 kills. Salit also had 18 assists and 2 aces. Katie Keenan served 3 aces for the Bears, and Natalie Jokerst contributed 2 aces as well.
Mundelein (4-19, 2-4) received 4 kills apiece from Faith Krabbe (11 assists, 2 blocks), Brianna Martin (2 blocks), Willow Ottoman and Olivia Cartland.
