Girls volleyball: South Elgin wins 4th straight Upstate Eight match

In South Elgin's 25-23, 25-16 win over West Chicago, the Storm (8-5, 4-0) made quick work of West Chicago in the second set to remain undefeated in the Upstate Eight Conference.

Alyssa Warden led South Elgin with 17 kills and 11 digs. Maggie McGough added a team-high 21 digs and Allison Cunniffe finished with 22 assists for South Elgin.

Westminster Christian d. Mooseheart 25-11, 25-17: The Warriors grabbed their first conference win behind Lizzy Muschong with 6 kills, 4 aces and 2 digs. Sophie Kovachevich added 3 kills, 2 aces and 3 digs for Westminster Christian (4-18, 1-5) and Gretchen Hill finished with 6 assists.

Elgin Academy d. North Shore Country Day 25-20, 25-27, 25-15: After a grueling match, it was the Hilltoppers (8-12, 2-2) that came out on top. Elizabeth Sporina led Elgin Academy with 25 assists and 7 digs. Marina Aristodemo was perfect from the serving line and served up 2 aces, along with adding 8 kills, and Maddy Beauchamp finished with 45 digs and 4 aces.

Huntley d. Burlington Central 25-10, 25-11: The Red Raiders (10-0, 9-0) remained undefeated with a decisive win over Burlington Central. Emma Konie led the Huntley offense with 10 kills and Taylor Jakubowski led the defense with 12 digs.

Rachel Stoneman had 5 kills, 5 assists and 3 digs for the Rockets (4-9, 1-8) and Lily Mortetti added 8 assists and 4 digs.

Hampshire d. Dundee-Crown 17-25, 25-15, 25-21: The Chargers (3-11, 1-8) won the first set, but Hampshire fought all the way back to steal this win away.

Makena Wesol led Dundee-Crown with 12 kills and 10 digs and Jenna Brown finished with 24 assists. Mia Seaton added 12 digs for the Chargers.

Wheaton Warrenville South d. Batavia 25-11, 25-11: The Bulldogs (6-11, 2-1) were on the receiving end of very strong serving from Wheaton Warrenville South, who handed Batavia its first DuKane Conference loss on Tuesday night.

Olivia Vani led the Bulldogs with 5 digs, 1 ace and 1 block and Kyra Taylor finished with 4 kills.
