Girls volleyball: Antioch wins championship at Jefferson

Lexington McKillips slammed 45 kills, Maiah Moll dished out 131 assists, Hannah Benes notched 58 digs, and Antioch's girls volleyball team captured first place in the Rockford Jefferson tournament Saturday.

The Sequoits (13-3) went undefeated, beating Rockford Auburn (25-18, 16-25, 15-11), Rockford Jefferson (25-17, 25-9), Pekin (14-25, 25-19, 15-13), Grayslake Central (25-15, 21-25, 15-10) and South Beloit (25-10, 25-23).

Antioch's other contributors included Annika Lindstrom (34 kills, 11 aces, 10 blocks), Hailey Russo (21 kills, 29 digs) and Chloe Martinez (7 aces, 27 digs). Moll also tallied 10 aces and 18 digs. Benes' contributions included 5 aces, 5 kills and 5 assists, as well.

Niles West invite: Stevenson went 3-2 and finished sixth.

Amanda Holsen slammed 50 kills in the Patriots' five matches, while Lily Cozzi tallied 19 kills and 15 aces, including eight against Resurrection. Grace Tully lofted 91 assists, and Emerson Kouri collected 42 digs. Holsen had double-digit kill totals against Prospect (12), Resurrection (13) and Maine West (11).

Stevenson lost to Prospect (21-25, 25-23, 15-9) in its tournament opener, before beating Resurrection (25-18, 25-14), Maine West (25-21, 25-12) and Evanston (25-5, 25-20). The Patriots lost their final match to Glenbrook South (25-16, 25-16) to give them an overall record of 7-6.

Lake Zurich won just one of its five matches, despite Chelsea Williams' 33 kills, including 14 in a 25-27, 25-19, 15-13 loss to Buffalo Grove in the Bears' first match.

Lake Zurich rebounded from its defeat against Buffalo Grove to defeat Taft (22-25, 25-19, 15-12) but then lost to Evanston (25-16, 25-22) and Deerfield (25-19, 25-7). Heidi Mason served 4 aces against Taft, and Leah Salit delivered 3 aces against Evanston.
