Girls volleyball: Maine West evens record at 5-5

Maine West's girls volleyball team evened its record at 5-5 with a 25-17, 20-25, 25-15 nonconference won over Leyden on Wednesday night in Des Plaines.

Helping to lead the Warriors were sophomore setter Clare Olson (16 assists, 2 digs) and junior Bailey Cassidy (6 kills, 2 aces, 1 dig, 1 block).

Leyden (1-4) was paced by senior Jailynn Bravo (7 kills), senior Kinga Nowacyk (5 kills, 2 aces), senior setter Jocelyn Escamilla (17 assists, 2 aces) and senior Elle Engelke (6 kills, 1 ace).

St. Viator d. Lake Forest Academy: Visiting St. Viator (2-3) posted a 25-14, 25-15 nonconference win as freshman Marcelina Gorny (7 kills) and sophomore Marie Torosian (4 kills) led the attack. Senior Erin Aldana handed out 5 assists while junior Danielle Panzeca was 11-of-11 serving with 4 aces.
