At a glance: The White Sox come out of the all-star break with a 10-game road trip that starts in Oakland and makes stops in Kansas City and Tampa Bay. The Sox are 17-24 on the road and 25-20 at home. They are 1-5 at the Coliseum over the last two years. The A's are second in the AL West with a 50-41 record. Nova pitched well vs. the Cubs on Sunday in the final game of the first half, working 5⅔ scoreless innings. Out since June 6 with shoulder inflammation, Dylan Covey could come off the injured list and start for the White Sox on Saturday. At the break, Jose Abreu was second in the American League with 66 RBI. Sox starter Lucas Giolito was tied for the AL lead with 11 wins. Injured shortstop Tim Anderson was fourth with a .317 batting average. Third baseman Matt Chapman leads Oakland with 21 home runs and 52 RBI.
