Softball: Libertyville wins Glenbrook South regional final

Amanda Page earned the complete-game win, and Libertyville's softball team produced just enough offense to edge Glenbrook North 2-1 and avoid being upset in the Class 4A Glenbrook South regional final Friday.

Glenbrook North, which outhit the Wildcats 6-4, was seeded 10th.

Libertyville (25-7) advances to the Palatine sectional and will play its semifinal game at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday against the winner of Saturday's game between No. 3 Warren and No. 6 Grayslake North at Warren.

Page struck out eight and didn't walk a batter. Lexie Hill was 2-for-3 with 2 doubles and an RBI for Libertyville, and Aliya Haddon went 1-for-2 with a double and an RBI. Julia Zinkewich also doubled.

The Wildcats, whose 4 hits were all doubles, scored single runs in the second and third innings. Glenbrook North cut its deficit in half in the fifth.
