Baseball: Hinsdale Central, Timothy Christian win

Hinsdale Central 3, West Aurora 2:

An RBI groundout by Alex Perez scored James Pappas with the go-ahead run for the Red Devils (16-14) in the top of the seventh inning in the Class 4A Hinsdale Central regional semifinals. Tom Jurack went 2-for-3 and Ethan Harrast had 2 RBI. Winning pitcher Ayden Head struck out seven in 6 innings. Charlie Williams pitched the seventh inning to earn his fifth save.

Oswego East 5, Downers South 1:

The Mustangs (21-11) saw their 10-game winning streak snapped in the Class 4A Plainfield South regional semifinals after Oswego East scored twice in the third inning and added 3 runs in the fourth. Anthony Stellato went 2-for-4 for Downers South.

Timothy Christian 4, Noble/Bulls 3:

The Trojans (6-20) advanced to the Class 3A St. Patrick regional final to face the host Shamrocks.

Sandwich 7, St. Francis 4:

The Spartans (21-6) fell in the Class 3A Plano regional semifinals when Sandwich scored 3 runs in the top of the eighth inning. Nick Kosmetatos homered and drove in 2 runs. Ryan Siurek and Bennett Eltoft each had 2 hits.
