Baseball: Delgado's 2 HRs lead Antioch past Wauconda

Logan Delgado homered twice and drove in 5 runs, and Antioch's baseball team outslugged ninth-seeded Wauconda 11-9 in semifinal action of the Class 3A Prairie Ridge regional Thursday.

No. 7 Antioch advances to Saturday's 11 a.m. final against host and top-seeded Prairie Ridge.

Sean Weiser was 3-for-3 with 2 doubles and 2 RBI for Antioch, which also got 2-for-4 efforts from Vince Roszkowiak and Eric Hart.

Wauconda (13-16) got 3 hits and an RBI from Riley Kirk. Brett Winkel hit a solo homer for the Bulldogs, and Camden Janik was 2-for-3 with a homer, double and 3 RBI. Marcus Keller and Marcus Sperling were also 2-for-3, and Jacob Jensen finished 2-for-5.

Lake Zurich 8, Deerfield 5: At Deerfield, Jack Pfeifer had a home run, single and 4 RBI, and the Bears knocked off the No. 10 seed and host Warriors in the Class 4A regional semifinal.

No. 6 Lake Zurich (22-9) will play No. 3 Lake Forest at 11 a.m. Saturday for the regional championship.

The Bears also got 2 his apiece from Tyler Snep (double), Noah DeLuga, James Piggott and Michael Gallus, while Jack Moses had a single and 2 RBI. Jake Schwartz pitched 4 innings in relief, allowing no runs and no hits with 3 strikeouts and 1 walk.

Lakes 7, Lake View 4: At the College of Lake County, Jason Volpe was 3-for-4 with a triple and 3 RBI, and the Eagles defeated the No. 6 seed in the Class 3A Grayslake Central regional semifinal.

No. 10 Lakes (12-19) will play No. 2 Grayslake Central at 11 a.m. Saturday for the regional championship.

Lakes received 2-for-4 efforts from Chance Andell (RBI), Joe Glassey (2 RBI)(and Ethan Clark. Carson Cobb pitched 5 innings for the win, and Clark earned the save by throwing 2 scoreless innings.

Streamwood 12, Grant 9: At Grant, the Sabres pulled off the upset in the Class 4A regional semifinal, ousting the Northern Lake County Conference champions and No. 3 seed.

No. 5 Streamwood advances to Saturday's 11 a.m. final against No. 2 Cary-Grove.

Trailing 6-1, Grant scored 7 runs in the bottom of the sixth to take an 8-6 advantage, but Streamwood answered with 6 runs in the seventh.

Grant finishes the season 25-7.
