Baseball: Naperville Central, Willowbrook win

Naperville Central 8, Metea Valley 1:

The 18th-seeded Redhawks (8-23) stunned No. 2 Metea Valley (23-9) in the Class 4A Hinsdale Central regional semifinals. Jared Suchevits, who homered, was the complete-game winning pitcher. He struck out eight and scattered 4 hits. Sam Hojnar went 3-for-3 with a home run and 3 RBI. Kevin Chan went 2-for-4 with 3 RBI. Cade Sullivan homered for the Mustangs.

Willowbrook 11, Bartlett 5:

The Warriors (24-6) exploded for 9 runs in the second inning in the Class 4A Willowbrook regional semifinals. Sam Tumilty, Jack Hines and Anthony Yannotti all had 2 RBI in support of winning pitcher Ryan Mintz.

DePaul Prep 4, Lisle 2:

The Lions (18-12) took a 2-0 lead to the seventh inning but DePaul Prep rallied to victory behind a 3-run homer in the Class 2A Benedictine University sectional semifinals. A.J. Casmer, who struck out nine on the mound, and Connor Nigro drove in runs.

Plainfield North 9, Naperville North 7:

Plainfield North scored 3 runs in the bottom of the eighth inning to rally to victory in the Class 4A Plainfield North regional semifinals. Mike Bruebach had 4 hits and 3 RBI while Quinn Sheehan went 3-for-5.

Montini 15, Westinghouse 0:

Ryan Ortiz struck out eight in 3 innings and Ryan Nelson struck out the side in the fourth inning as the duo combined on a no-hitter for the Broncos (17-12) in the Class 3A Montini regional semifinals. Estevan Moreno homered and had 3 RBI. Ben Lah drove in 2 runs.

Glenbard South 25, North Grand 2:

The Raiders (23-13) rolled into the Class 3A Clemente regional final after following a 13-run first inning with an 11-run third. Drew Vozza and Jack Dupuis drove in 5 runs. Jacob Cyrus allowed 1 hit in the four-inning win.
