Baseball: Barrington notches 28th win

Creeping ever closer to the 30-win mark, Barrington's baseball team got a 7-4 win over St. Charles North on Saturday to move to 28-6 on the season.

AJ Christoffer had a big day at the plate for the Broncos, who were able to overcome 4 errors in part by a 6-run third inning.

Christoffer smacked 2 hits, including a home run and he drove in 3 runs.

John Seagrist drove in 2 runs and he and Max Raynor each had a double.

Winning pitcher Ricky Kanak had 3 strikeouts over four innings while Rayth Petersen got the save with 3 strikeouts over two innings.

Elk Grove 2, Notre Dame 1: Shane Crimmins drove in the winning run for Elk Grove in the bottom of the seventh. Ian Ridge drove in the Grens' other run.

Maine South 7, Normal West 1: A 5-run second inning keyed the win for Maine South. Connor Leyden had 2 hits, both doubles, and drove in 2 runs. Chris Arger also drove in 2 runs on 2 hits and Tyler Houck drove in 2 runs as well. Winning pitcher Zack Poolos rolled up 5 strikeouts over five innings.

Buffalo Grove 3, Nazareth 1: Tristen Figus had 2 hits and Mike Roberts added a double to lead Buffalo Grove.

St. Viator 10, Moline 9 (8 inn.): St. Viator scored 2 runs in the bottom of the eighth inning to come away with the close-shave victory. The Lions pounded out a total of 13 hits (Casey Kmet 3, Jack Mahoney 3, including a double, Owen Hickey 2, Conor Warner 2). Joe Brunetti, who hit a double, drove in 4 runs and Michael Purk drove in 3 runs. St. Viator is now 16-11 on the season.

Geneva 2, Hersey 1: Daniel Clawson drove in Hersey's only run.

Lake Park 12, Schaumburg 1: Albert Kiszka had 2 hits and drove in the only run for Schaumburg, which was outhit 9-3 and dropped to 10-20 on the season.

New Trier 8, Rolling Meadows 0: Rolling Meadows was outhit 13-4. Javonte Jones-Warrener led the Mustangs with 2 hits.

Deerfield 8, Wheeling 0: Deerfield outhit Wheeling 9-2 and used a 5-run sixth inning to take firm control.

Von Steuben 13, Maine East 7: Von Steuben was up 6-1 after two innings. For Maine East, which suffered 6 errors, Ashton Schwab drove in 3 runs, Patrick Miller drove in 2 runs and had a double and Joe Gaiser and Ankido Ishac each had 2 hits. One of Ishac's hits was a double. Maine East dropped to 2-20 on the season.
