Baseball: Benet, York, Lake Park win

Benet 9, Carmel 8:

Jacob Butler's 2-run single in the bottom of the seventh inning gave the Redwings (10-20, 3-11) the walk-off East Suburban Catholic Conference victory. Butler went 3-for-4 with a homer and 6 RBI. York 3, Hinsdale Central 2:

The Dukes (19-9, 12-4) won their ninth straight West Suburban Silver game. Kellen Gilmartin notched the complete-game win, striking out six in a 3-hitter. Joe Goehl homered and drove in 2 runs.

Lake Park 1, St. Charles East 0:

Winning pitcher Nic Aehlert drove in the game's lone run in the top of the sixth inning with a bunt that scored Chris Worcester. Bradley Patton picked up the save.

Downers South 8, Morton 1:

Winning pitcher Mike Hoes, Cole Warehime and Jack Blazevich went 2-for-3 as Downers South (18-10, 15-3) swept their final West Suburban Gold series.

Glenbard South 4, Larkin 0:

Logan Barnick was the complete-game winning pitcher for the Raiders (21-10, 17-7 Upstate Eight), striking out eight and scattering 3 hits. Glenbard South scored twice in the fourth and seventh inning.

Wheaton Academy 2, Ridgewood 1:

The Warriors (17-12, 8-4) rallied to victory in the Metro Suburban Blue behind Peter Crowe's 2-run sixth-inning single. Complete-game winner Max Martin struck out eight.

Waubonsie Valley 8, Downers North 0:

Winning pitcher Alex Lemmons struck out eight and allowed 2 hits in 6⅓ innings to give the Warriors (9-19) the nonconference win. Cole Gregorio homered and drove in 2 runs while Ivanosky Wong went 2-for-3 with 2 RBI. Ryan Mutz also had 2 RBI.
