Baseball: Hampshire sweeps Crystal Lake Central

Hampshire starting pitcher Logan Nespor struck out six and the Whip-Purs defeated host Crystal Lake Central 5-3 to sweep the 3-game Fox Valley Conference series and extend their winning streak to six.

Nespor limited CL Central (6-11, 1-7) to 2 earned runs on 6 hits without a walk in 7 innings.

Nick Sladek (3-for-4) led a 10-hit attack and Kyle Miller went 2-for-4 with a double for Hampshire (12-5, 7-5).

Huntley 7, Crystal Lake South 3: Kyle Maurer's two-out, seventh-inning single snapped a 3-3 tie and the Red Raiders added 3 insurance runs to sweep a 3-game Fox Valley Conference series. Maurer had 3 hits and reliever Davis Pasco pitched 4 scoreless innings to notch the win for Huntley (15-4, 9-2). Reliever Beiker Fuentes took the loss for CL South (8-8, 4-8).

Cary-Grove 14, Dundee-Crown 0: Josh Belgrave did not allow a hit or issue a walk and struck out 6 in a five-inning Fox Valley Conference victory for Cary-Grove (13-4, 7-2). Riley Fischer took the loss for Dundee-Crown (4-13, 0-9).

Jacobs 23, Conant 11: Max Bielawski tripled twice, doubled and drove in 7 runs, and Daniel Klein hit a 2-run home run and drove in 5 to pace a 15-hit deluge in a nonconference win for Jacobs (8-10).

West Aurora 10, East Aurora 0: Junior starting pitcher Justin Zimmerman was perfect in a five-inning Upstate Eight victory. He struck out eight. Alex Losselyoung doubled and drove in 2 runs to help West Aurora (13-4-1, 9-2-1) sweep the 3-game series.

Streamwood 8, West Chicago 4: Pitcher AJ Reyna held the Wildcats to 2 earned runs on 7 hits and 2 walks and struck out 4 in 5⅓ innings. At the plate, Reyna doubled and drove in 2 runs to lead Streamwood (9-8, 7-5) in the Upstate Eight.

Glenbard South 5, Bartlett 1: The Hawks committed 5 errors behind hard-luck losing pitcher Geno Frieri. He allowed no earned runs on 5 hits and 2 walks in 4⅔ innings. Blake Oliver and Kevin Vesta doubled in the Upstate Eight loss for Bartlett (5-6-1, 4-6).

Batavia 6, Wheaton Warrenville South 4: Cole Nelson went 3-for-4 and drove in 3 runs and Justin Major had 3 hits in DuKane action. Winning pitcher Drew Iutzwig allowed 3 earned runs on 7 hits, walked 3 and struck out 5 in 5⅓ innings for Batavia (9-7, 3-4).

St. Charles North 3, Lake Park 2: Ryan Thiesse singled to drive in Egon Hein with the go-ahead run in the bottom of the sixth inning for the DuKane Conference victory. Reliever Johnny Lambert (2-0) struck out 3 in 2 scoreless innings to earn the win and Nick DeMarco earned his second save for St. Charles North (11-6, 6-1).

South Elgin 10, Larkin 0: Ben Hetelle went 2-for-2 with 2 RBI, Grant Baker had 2 hits and scored twice and Patrick Keaty doubled in a five-inning Upstate Eight win for South Elgin (12-2, 10-1).

Glenbard East 17, Elgin 1: Eric Damerow managed the only hit in an Upstate Eight loss for Elgin.

Aurora Central Catholic 4, Plano 3: Jeff Albert scored on a seventh-inning wild pitch to tie this nonconference game and courtesy runner Ryan Lee scored the go-ahead run on an eighth-inning error. Reliever Mike Elliott struck out 4 in 4 scoreless innings to earn the win for ACC (14-6).

Kaneland 14, Plainfield South 8: Nic Panico (2 doubles), Thomas Shaw and Bryce Stair each had 3 hits in a 17-hit nonconference win for Kaneland (14-7).

Alden-Hebron 14, Westminster Christian 1: Frankie Schlaffer had 2 hits in this Northeastern Athletic Conference doubleheader loss for Westminster (1-7, 1-5)
