Softball: Libertyville extends shutout streak to 20 innings

Another day, another shutout for Libertyville's softball team.

The Wildcats beat Buffalo Grove 10-0 in five innings Wednesday, extending their scoreless-innings streak to 20.

Winning pitcher Amanda Page (5-2) struck out three, didn't walk a batter and allowed 2 hits in her 3 innings. Katie Jahncke threw the final two frames, yielding 1 hit and striking out three.

Page, Aliya Haddon (double) and Sarah Bennett (2 RBI) were all 2-for-2 for Libertyville. Julia Zinkewich and Maggie Evers were both 1-for-2.

Grayslake Central 18, Highland Park 1: Elisa Koshy was 4-for-4 with her second homer in as many days, a double and 6 RBI, as the Rams won in nonconference play.

Madeline Peterson was 3-for-4 and also homered. She doubled and knocked in 2 runs, as well. Grayslake Central got 2 hits apiece from Kennedy Stoffel (double, triple), Avery Nims (double, 2 RBI), Ashley Reese and Megan Morrissey. Corinne Heidloff pitched a 4-inning complete game for the win.

Palatine 14, Grayslake North 3: The Pirates won the nonconference game in five innings.

Jess Pozezinski (2-for-3, RBI), Alyssa Carr (2-for-3, RBI), Ashton Moore (1-for-2, RBI), Faith Standerski (1-for-2, walk) and Nicole Hughes (1-for-2, hit by pitch) all had hits for Grayslake North (5-5).

Cary-Grove 10, Lakes 1: Ally Dietz homered for the Eagles' only run in their nonconference loss.

Dietz and Delaney Hanrahan were both 2-for-3 for Lakes.

Crystal Lake Central 21, Wauconda 12: The visiting Tigers hit 4 home runs in the nonconference game.

Wauconda was led offensively by Kayla Serio, who went 4-for-5 with 2 doubles, a triple and 3 RBI. Angelica Cho was 3-for-4 with a double and 2 RBI, Zehra Hussain finished 2-for-5 with an RBI, and Katlyn Jerard contributed a double for the Bulldogs.

Antioch 2, Woodstock North 2 (susp.): The nonconference was suspended due to darkness after visiting Antioch batted in the top of the ninth inning.

Ashlyn Sundell was 2-for-4 with a stolen base for Antioch. Jeri Bonaguidi pitched all 8 innings for the Sequoits, allowing 9 hits and 2 earned runs with 5 strikeouts and 4 walks.
