Baseball: Elk Grove, Wheeling post wins
Ryne Singsank was busy Wednesday afternoon.
He was on the mound for Elk Grove and rolled up 8 strikeouts over four innings to help the Grens get a 12-6 nonconference baseball win over Lake Park.
Singsank also had 2 hits, including a double, and also drove in 2 runs for Elk Grove, which pulls to 3-3 on the season.
Zach Schwartz had 3 hits and drove in 3 runs for the Grens while Xander Rojahn also had 3 hits. Mark Matos added 2 hits in the win.
Wheeling 12, Lake Forest Academy 2: Wheeling outhit Lake Forest Academy 13-3 and had a big 4-run first inning to set the tone early. Joe Jordan pitched the win with 6 strikeouts over four innings and helped his cause with 3 hits, including a double and a triple. He also drove in 4 runs. Michael Best also had 3 hits, including a double and a triple for the Wildcats, who move to 4-4 on the season. Jeremy Kim led Wheeling with 4 hits, and he drove in 2 runs.
Northridge Prep 5, Christian Liberty 3: Pitcher Ethan Oskroba had 3 hits, including a double, and he drove in 2 runs in the loss. On the mound, he had 6 strikeouts. JD Edleson and Gabe Jimenez each added 2 hits for Christian Liberty, which drops to 2-7.
