Baseball: Marmion duo combines for no-hitter

Will Dietz and Charlie Drayer teamed up to no-hit Leo in Marmion's 13-2 win Monday.

Dietz pitched 3 innings, walking three, striking out five and giving up an unearned run. Drayer also gave up an unearned run, striking out five and walking one in his 2 innings.

The Cadets (3-2) walked 10 times and had 6 hits. Nick Talarico and Lucas Sagstetter both had 2 RBI.

Glenbard South 3, South Elgin 1: The Storm (2-1) lost their first game of the year despite a solid outing from Joseph Teschke, who pitched the first 4 innings giving up an unearned run and 2 hits while striking out four.

Logan Romasanta went 1-for-3 and drove in South Elgin's only run.

Ryan Creevy earned the win for Glenbard South while Mason Barnick had 2 hits.

Cary-Grove 5, St. Charles North 3: Quinn Priester earned the win for the Trojans, going four innings and striking out seven, allowing two runs. Jack Wenninger struck out the side in the seventh for the save.

Cary-Grove (4-2) took a 5-0 lead in the first four innings. The top four hitters combined for all 10 hits — Dymitri Kanellakis (3-for-3, 3 runs), Ryan Weaver (2-for-3, RBI), Drew Stengren (2-for-4) and Priester (2-for-3, RBI).

Johnny Lambert provided a bright sport for the North Stars (3-3), allowing just 1 hit over the final 3 innings, striking out five. Egon Hein went 2-for-2 with a pair of home runs, and Nick DeMarco also homered.

Streamwood 5, West Aurora 3: AJ Reyna tossed a complete game for the Sabres (2-2) while Anthony Malczyk had a pair of hits for the Blackhawks (4-3).

St. Edward 5, Bishop McNamara 1: Jack Olson went 3-for-3 with a home run and 2 RBI giving St. Edward (1-5) its first win of the season. Ben Boydston and Drew Tilche both added 2 hits. Tilche pitched a complete game, striking out six and walking two.

Aurora Christian 4, IC Catholic Prep 2: The Eagles improved to 5-0 behind Trey Madsen (2-for-4) and Jake Kuntzendorf (2-for-3, 2 RBI). Both players doubled, and Hunter Thompson and Declan Palmquist also had a hit and an RBI.

Kuntzendorf got the win, striking out 11 in just 4 innings. MJ Stavola pitched the final 3 innings, striking out three. Both pitchers gave up just 1 hit and an unearned run.

Aurora Central Catholic 15, Elmwood Park 7: Chris Cartwright had 3 hits for the Chargers and Mike Elliott, Alex Rakas, Max Ariano and Danny Kuttner all had 2.

ACC (8-4) scored 7 times in the top of the seventh to break the game open. CJ Cazares and Brett Crissie combined for 10 strikeouts on the mound, and neither pitcher gave up an earned run.
