Blackhawks fall to Coyotes, 1-0

Nick Cousins snapped a 168-minute, nine-second scoring drought for Arizona with 14:20 remaining, and the Coyotes went on to post a 1-0 victory over the visiting Blackhawks on Tuesday.

The Hawks (33-33-10) remain 5 points behind Colorado for the second wild-card spot in the West with just six games remaining.

Arizona (37-33-7) snapped a five-game losing streak and has the same number of points as Colorado, but the Avs have a better goal differential and one game in hand.

Corey Crawford (27 saves) stopped Cousins' initial shot, but the rebound bounced back to the forward and he pounded home his seventh goal of the season. The goal came with Arizona on the power play as Brent Seabrook was whistled for tripping Lawson Crouse with 15:25 left.

Despite skating short-handed in the final 1:47 due to a Duncan Keith tripping penalty, the Hawks had a golden opportunity to tie the game when Seabrook hit Artem Anisimov with a perfect stretch pass. Anisimov, however, missed the net with 1:14 remaining.

The Hawks, who have 9 goals in the last six games, were shut out for just the third time this season and the first time since a 4-0 loss at Philadelphia on Nov. 10. Patrick Kane (2 shots on goal) hasn't scored in seven straight games.

The Hawks' next two games are at San Jose on Thursday and at Los Angeles on Saturday.
