Baseball: Drew Wiegman homers as Carmel wins

Drew Wiegman went 3-for-4 with a homer and 2 RBI, Nolan Taylor allowed 1 hit and no runs in 5 innings, and Carmel Catholic's baseball team defeated visiting Woodstock 8-3 in nonconference action Saturday.

Taylor struck out five, as the Corsairs (2-0) won for the second day in a row. Lukas Galdoni was 2-for-4 with an RBI, and Kyle Grawe (1 run) and Max Herubin (double) were both 1-for-2.

Lake Forest 9, Lakes 2: Logan Hanson was 2-for-2, and Julian Carrillo went 2-for-4 for the visiting Eagles in their nonconference loss.

Ethan Clarke doubled for Lakes, which spotted the Scouts a 5-0 lead after two innings, and Ethan Mackey had a single and 2 RBI.
