Baseball: South Elgin blasts 3 home runs to beat Fremd

South Elgin opened its season with a 10-8 win over Fremd on Tuesday.

The Storm (1-0) blasted three home runs. Garret Wano, Grant Baker and Logan Romasanta all went deep in the fifth inning. The Storm had 10 hits in the game with Austin Doty, Patrick Keaty and Cody Gallagher all getting multiple hits.

Batavia 14, Glenbard West 3: Batavia (1-0) finished with 13 hits as Alex Skupa, Brady King and Cole Nelson all had multiple hits, including a seventh inning home run for Nelson. Brad Niedzwiedz got the start for the Bulldogs, allowing 5 hits and 1 run over 4 innings, striking out eight and walking one.

Aurora Christian 5, Plano 3: Trey Madsen, Jake Kuntzendorf and Josh Smoot each collected multiple hits for Aurora Christian. Madsen went 3-for-4 at the plate to lead the Eagles (3-0) in hits. JP Jira got the win for Aurora Christian, surrendering 3 runs on 2 hits and striking out two. MJ Stavola recorded the last three outs to earn the save for Aurora Christian.

Cary-Grove 7, Palatine 0: Cary-Grove (1-0) secured the victory with a 7-run third inning. Quinn Priester, Drew Stengren, Benjamin Taczy and Jacob Duncan each drove in runs during the inning. Priester earned the win for the Trojans, throwing a shutout for 3 innings.

Yorkville 13, West Aurora 3: West Aurora (0-1) was unable to contain an explosive Yorkville offense in its opener. Jake Smith took the loss for the Blackhawks, lasting 2 and 2/3 innings, giving up 7 hits and 6 runs.
