Stevenson rallies past Zion-Benton; Caudle hits another milestone

Krissy Hill hit 2 free throws with 12 seconds left, and Stevenson's girls basketball team rallied in the fourth quarter to stun visiting Zion-Benton 48-47 in a North Suburban Conference showdown on Friday night.

Nikki Ware and Avery King each scored 14 points for Stevenson (18-8, 7-4), which trailed 40-31 after three quarters but outscored the Zee-Bees 17-7 in the fourth. Hill's clutch free throws gave the Patriots a one-point lead. Ava Bardic added 11 points, including three 3-pointers.

Zion-Benton (16-5, 6-3) was led by Morgan Callahan's 14 points.

Stevenson has won eight of its last nine.

Vernon Hills 48, Glenbrook North 33: Kayla Caudle scored 10 points and grabbed 20 rebounds, surpassing 1,000 for her career, as the visiting Cougars won the Central Suburban League North Division game.

Caudle, a DePaul-bound senior and the all-time leading rebounder in Vernon Hills history, has 1,015 rebounds for her career.

Lauren Shores (12 points, 5 rebounds), Kylie Bunning (11 points, 7 steals, 3 assists) and Piper Bedell (10 points) also scored in double figures for Vernon Hills (13-10, 7-1).

"We started slow, but then our defense started to feed our offense," Vernon Hills coach Paul Brettner said.

Lakes 53, Lake Forest Academy 43 (OT): Kylie Jozwik scored 19 points, as the host Eagles won the nonconference game in overtime.

Mia Edwards added 10 points and 6 rebounds for Lakes (10-14), which outscored LFA 12-2 in OT. Sara Smith had 8 points and 8 boards, and Brittany Washington scored 8 points as well.

"We started well," Lakes coach Brian Phelan said. "Glad to see Kylie hit a lot of 3s tonight. We played well on both ends of the court. We got down a few in the fourth, but stormed back to take the lead. Overtime, boom. We jumped to a large lead and played good basketball. Truth be told, it feels good to get a close game."

Libertyville 56, Warren 41: Lydia Crow poured in 22 points, including six 3-pointers, as the host Wildcats snapped a three-game losing streak in North Suburban Conference play.

Lauren Huber and Maddie Spaulding each had 9 points for Libertyville (17-7, 8-3).

"We made some second-half adjustments to try to lock down their shooters, and we did a better job of contesting their shots in the second half," Wildcats coach Greg Pedersen said.

Warren (6-16, 3-7) was led by Jataia Harris' 19 points and Macy Kocen's 10.
