Round Lake wins Fenton MLK tourney
Giselle Raygoza scored 15 points, knocking down four 3-pointers, and Round Lake's girls basketball team defeated Lake Forest Academy 50-41 to win the Fenton MLK tournament on Monday.
Round Lake also defeated Fenton 63-30 to finish 4-0 in the tournament and improve to 16-8, while extending its winning streak to seven games.
"Our girls played hard together to finish the tournament," Panthers coach Molly Hennig said. "It was a total team effort today to finish strong against a talented Lake Forest Academy team."
Diane Flade added 13 points, including three 3-pointers, against LFA. Taylor Major and Emily Etherington had 9 and 7 points, respectively.
Major led the way against Fenton, scoring 15 points. Sam Nicoline (14 points) and Karla Marin (10) also scored in double figures for the Panthers.
Grant 56, Palatine 51: At Lake Forest, Ally Mahinay scored 19 points, Brooke Karpinske added 17, and the Bulldogs won their finale in the one-day MLK tournament.
Grant (13-10) led 17-7 after one quarter, 26-17 at halftime and 41-31 after three. Mahinay went 11 of 16 from the foul line.
Palatine was led by Melanie Simon's 18 points, which included a 14-of-22 effort from the stripe. Kayla Miotk had 10 points for the Pirates.
Buffalo Grove 63, Grant 54: At Lake Forest, Kendra Lee scored a game-high 19 points to lead the Bison to a morning win in the MLK tournament.
Macy Floro added 13 points for Buffalo Grove.
Grant got 17 points from Jazzlyn Linbo and 16 from Brooke Karpinske.
