Elk Grove evens its record in MSL East

Senior Rachel Kandefer (14 points) and junior Megan Murray (11) each reached double figures as Elk Grove's girls basketball team posted a 46-37 win at Buffalo Grove on Friday night.

Coach Jen Buxton's club improved to 9-11 and 3-3 in the Mid-Suburban East while BG stands at 12-9 and 3-4.

Alyssa Trausch added 7 points and Jaela Priester 6 for the winners, who defeated BG for the second time this season.

"Im very proud of the entire team effort," Buxton said. "We have everyone contributing and sharing the basketball with kids stepping up off the bench.

"We were down a starter (sophomore Isabella Tierney) and the team stuck together and persevered against a very good defensive Buffalo Grove team."

The Bison were led by junior Alyssa Ramos' 15 points.

Fremd 61, Barrington 34: Fremd (20-3, 6-0) used a 25-5 third-quarter run to pull away in an MSL West win.

Ruthie Montella (14 points, 7 rebounds), Emily Klaczek (13 points, 6 rebounds, 2 steals), Ella Burns (9 points, 3 assists) and Caroline Cochran (3 assists) helped lead the Vikes.

Barrington (7-15, 3-3) was led by Taylor Thompson (12 points) and Sydney Granby (10).

Conant 56, Hoffman Estates 41: Senior Stephanie Mazurek (17 points), Hannah Shulman (11) and Chikere Oduocha (11) led Conant (8-11, 4-2) to the MSL West win over Hoffman (7-16, 1-5).

Prospect 55, Wheeling 35: Visiting Prospect (13-5, 5-2) retained a half-game lead in the MSL East as Ashley Adams (12 points), Eliot Dujotrek (9), Stephanie Kowalczyk (9), Abbey Danciu (8) and Kayla Bryne (8) led the balanced offense against the Wildcats (9-12, 1-5).

Palatine 43, Schaumburg 25: Melanie Simon (11 points) and Madi Stark (10 points) paced the offense for Palatine (5-15, 1-5) in the MSL West win. Amy Vitulli and Kayla Miotk chipped in 6 points apiece for the Pirates.

Alyssa Orozco (9 points) and Talia Torosian (7) led Schaumburg (10-11, 3-3).

Maine West 66, Highland Park 28: Rachel Kent (12 points, 4 assists, 4 rebounds), Dylan Van Fleet (11 points, 6 rebounds, 6 assists) and Vanessa Reyes (10 points, 2 assists) led the Warriors (22-0, 7-0) in the CSL North win.
