Belvidere North surprises Geneva
Belvidere North outscored Geneva 13-8 in the fourth quarter on its way to a come-from-behind 56-53 victory Friday night at the Burlington Central Thanksgiving tournament, handing the two-time defending state champs their first loss.
Lindsay Blackmore led Geneva (2-1) with 29 points, but she was the only Viking in double figures. Geneva will try to bounce back Saturday morning against McHenry.
Homewood-Flossmoor 51, Bartlett 44: The Hawks (0-1) came up short at the Naperville Central Tip-Off tournament despite 13 points from Mackenzie Hare, 10 from Justina Hernandez and 9 from Lexie Sinclair.
Kaneland 36, Richmond-Burton 30: The Knights rebounded from an overtime loss at the Wauconda Thanksgiving Tournament. Linsey Turner and Hannah Armin led the Knights with 8 points, with Armin nabbing 6 steals. Keely Noel added 7 points and 8 rebounds and Bree Kigyos pulled in 9 boards. The Knights play Monday night against Belvidere to wrap up the tournament.
St. Viator 58, South Elgin 44: The Storm lost their second straight at the Dundee-Crown Thanksgiving Tournament. Megan McClure scored 12 points, Aryanna Williams had 9 and Casey Brennan 8.
